Neon Cotton Candy Electropunk Sunsets

Our friend John Somics is a Burning Man kind of artist who views the whole world as his palette. He’s a master carpenter who, after losing the tips of his index and ring fingers, had the tip of his undamaged middle finger shaved off to match because he didn’t want to look like he was flipping off the grandkids all the time. He’s an avid fisher of fish and a fisher of men, I guess, who creates large-scale vintage lure sculptures that hook everybody who walks by his studio.  Actually, I don’t think it’s possible to walk by without getting drawn in. You can’t lay your eyes down anywhere without seeing 57 things that you never imagined. 57 things that make you feel good when you look at them. They are beauty and hope and endless possibilities.

I expect you’ve got to keep your soul pretty topped up with wonderful things to put out the kind of art that John does. Every night he makes a pilgrimage of sorts out to the parking lot where his boat is parked and settles in to watch the night unfurl.

We’ve taken a page from the Book of John and started making sunsets a regular part of our days.Or is it nights? Twilights? Whatever, the point is, John’s on to a really good thing there. Fair warning though, nightly sunsets have proven to be extremely habit-forming.

John, this sunset is for you.
