It Was Great!

Our first sail really couldn’t have gone better. We sailed from Alameda past Treasure Island, past Angel Island Tiburon, and Paradise Cay and up towards San Rafael. We experienced winds from 0 to 18 knots and some pretty gnarly currents. On the way back south towards Alameda, we were pushed close to Angel Island and the weird eddy currents had me sawing at the wheel from lock to lock and struggling to keep the boat on course. I only pooed my pants a little.

The boat handled beautifully and almost everything worked. The disasters were small. One winch stopped working, 2 cupboard doors flew open, and we forgot to secure the topping lift and it flew around until we could catch it.

Good times!

Looking forward to more. We should get to get out of here next week, weather permitting.

Terrific! *Note…I suppose if a boat HAS to crack up somewhere, ‘Angel’s Island’ sounds like a better bet than ‘Dead Man’s Cove’, for instance. NOAA mentions something about a possible storm…next week? can’t remember. Keep your blog going, we (the first few) love it. The racial diversity article about SF was excellent. See ya’ all soon. Yeah, I’ve been looking at passageweather.com at least twice a day. It looks like Sat the 5th will probably be nice. Thursday night and Friday look really windy and with a big swell. Best to avoid that my first day at sea. I wish we could have left months ago but all is well.
