Oceanside is essentially a three pronged harbor. The northmost basin is Camp Pendleton. Don’t go in there. The middle basin is where you want to go–it’s got a number of transient guest slips straight under the Hollywood-style Oceanside sign. This basin is strictly for recreational vessels. The southmost basin is primarily geared toward commercial vessels, though there are quite a few recreational boats in slips. You’ll find a fuel dock over there and some great restaurants that aren’t too expensive.
Stuff you need to know:
- The harbor department doesn’t take cards, so you need to bring a check or cash
- There’s a $30 key deposit. We paid for ours with a check and received $30 cash when we checked out. Cool.
- It will cost you $1.5 /ft for guest slips
- No anchoring inside. No way. No how
- Restrooms and showers are located at either end of the recreational boat harbor- it’s about a 3 min walk
- Laundry facilities and possibly the best shower in the world are located in the northmost building
- Check out Oceanside Marine Center–a full-service boatyard with a Travelift, parts store, and mechanics available (even on sat!)
